Work will wait until you show your child the rainbow but the rainbow won't wait for you to do your job – Patricia Clafford

I was in a hurry. I slipped through the dining room dressed in my best suit, focused on preparations for the evening's business meeting. My four-year-old daughter was dancing to her favorite West Side Story tune. I was in a big hurry, I was about to be late. But nevertheless, a voice called inside me: "Stop!" And I stopped. I looked at her.

I reached out, grabbed her little arm and spun her around.

My seven-year-old daughter also entered our orbit, I caught her too. The three of us whirled around the dining room and living room. We burst out laughing. We were spinning like crazy. Could the neighbors not see us through the windows, how crazy are we? I didn't care. The song ended with a few dramatic bars and ended our dance.

I patted the kids on the bottom and sent them off to bathe. They started up the stairs, barely breathing, their giggles echoing through the walls of the house. I went back to work.

I bent down to put the necessary papers in my briefcase when I heard the little girl say to herself:

- Isn't mommy the best in the world? I froze in place. In my haste, I almost missed that moment. My thoughts returned to the awards and diplomas hanging in my office. No award, no achievement can compare to this:

"Isn't mommy the best in the world?"My daughter said it when she was four. I can't believe he said that at fourteen. But at forty, when he bent over the wooden chest to say goodbye to the mortal shell of my soul, I want him to say then: "Isn't Mom the best in the world?" These words do not fit into my work biography. But I want them engraved on my tombstone…
