First I wish you to love
and loving, also to be loved.
And if it's not like that - quickly forget it
and after you forget - not to harbor hatred.
I wish you have friends
including bad and inconsistent,
but to have at least one you can trust
without doubt.
And because that's how it is in life -
I wish you to have enemies too –
not too much - not too little - right in the middle,
so that you can sometimes question
your own confidence.
And let there be at least one among them,
whoever it is fair,
to not feel secure enough.
I wish you to be useful, even indispensable.
And in bad times when there's nothing left,
that thy usefulness be sufficient,
to keep you upright.
I wish you to be too tolerant
not with those who rarely make mistakes - that's easy,
but with those who err greatly
and irreparably
and using this tolerance,
to be an example to others.
I wish you don't mature quickly
and when you have matured,
don't want to get younger
and being already old
not to commit to hopelessness.
Because every age has its joy
and your pain
and we must let them flow between us.
I wish you to feel sadness in passing.
Not all year, not even one day.
Then you will find
that everyday smile is beautiful
that the usual smile is foolish,
and a constant smile is corrupting.
I wish you to discover as quickly as possible,
despite and above all,
that they surround loved ones, sometimes oppressed,
who commune with injustice
and with people who are unhappy.
I wish you to pet a dog, feed a bird
and listen to the song of the caddy,
to raise your morning chant,
because in this way you will feel happiness
more than ever.
I wish you too sow a seed –
as little as possible
and keep him company as he grows,
to find out how many lives are needed
to become a tree.
I wish you also have money,
because you have to be practical
and at least once a year
to put the money in front of you and say:
"This is mine.",
to make it clear
who is master of whom.
I wish may none of your passions be extinguished
and if this happens to any of them,
to be able to cry without regret
and you suffer without feeling guilty.
Finally, if you are a man - to have a good wife
and if you are a woman - to have a good man -
tomorrow and the day after
and when you are absorbed and smiling,
to talk over and over about love.
If these things happen to you -
I have nothing else to wish for you.
