A tale of dreams

In the beginning, sunflowers were not called sunflowers and were just tiny flowers, even a little gray, that no one noticed.
In the garden, they got lost among all the roses, which arrogantly flaunted their luxuriant beauty and bright colors. The roses said: "We are very important persons, just look at how we decorate the most special moments of people's lives!" Our parents were just as important and we have the most beautiful color on earth – red.”

The sunflowers shed their little gray flowers in the evening and they were very sad, because they neither decorated someone's beautiful moments, nor had a bewitching aroma, nor was their color something special and noticeable.
During one of these evenings the Butterfly Fairy happened to pass by. She saw them so sad and sat thoughtfully on the dewdrop on a green leaf.
-Why are you sad? she asked.
-Look at us, we are so small and inconspicuous that even the little ladybugs don't stop at us.

The fairy was silent for a while and smiled:
-Yes, but I will give you something that other flowers do not have. From now on, you will be able to dream. And every dream of yours will make you bigger and more beautiful.
Saying these words, she flew past each of the small gray flowers and dusted it with golden butterfly dust.

In the morning the Sun sent its rays to the flowers asking them to help an ant. She just had to climb them and see where her home was because she was lost.
Roses haughtily puffed up and showed their thorns - they did not communicate with such elementary creatures as ants.
The violets also refused, worried that the ant wouldn't step on them and they wouldn't look so fine and delicate anymore.
Only the sunflower looked up at the Sun and said:
- I will help her, let her climb on my stem.
- And you grabbed one of my rays - said the Sun.

The sunflower stretched out its leaves and grabbed the sunbeam. In an instant its stem lengthened, the ant climbed up and saw where her home was.
- Thank you! she squealed happily.
"Please," replied the sunflower.
- I also dream of my own home, but alas - I don't have one, so I would like to help others find theirs.

At noon, the Sun again turned to the flowers with a request:
- Look at this poor bird, it can no longer fly and will soon die of exhaustion. Can someone give her a seed of themselves?
The rose answered:
"Oh, I've baked myself so well and my petals are so fragile and well-arranged right now that if you step on them, you'll crumple them..."
Violet quickly hid in some tall grass. Only the sunflower said:
"Let him come and take my only seed."

And at that moment a miracle happened. His calyx opened and turned into a large pita full of seeds.
The bird pecked several of them and before flying away spoke:
– You have a good heart! You dreamed of doing a little good, but now you can help many like me who are in trouble.
– How happy and helpful you made me feel! I also thank you.
The sunflower did not stop helping throughout the day, guided by the words of the Sun. It was the same in the following days, and in the evening he dreamed. He dreamed to be useful, to be beautiful, to have his own home, to be loved and he to love. Sometimes even the sky shed tears, moved by these dreams.

One fine morning the sunflower woke up and gasped. He was in a huge garden. Beside him stood the butterfly Fairy with a mirror in her hand.
- Look! - she whispered with a smile. - It's you.
From the mirror looked a beautiful flower, resembling the sun with beautiful yellow leaves like rays.
- And this will be your home - the field, because you deserve it.
– Just look at how big I am! – exclaimed the flower.
Big as your dreams! – replied the Fairy, and blowing him an air kiss, flew away.
