9 habits that will help you get rich

You might think that billionaires have superpowers or some secret that helped them achieve their billionaire status, but that's not the case.

When one digs into their habits, it becomes clear that many of the billionaires do several things that are the same.

These habits don't require any extreme lifestyle changes or extraordinary intelligence, just the power of your dedication to follow them.

No, there is no direct link or guaranteed path to billionaire status if you adopt these habits.

However, you are much more likely to be more productive and successful in the future if you acquire some of these habits today, says American author and lecturer Bernard Marr.

Don't stop learning new things

Many billionaires never stop learning new things, and they definitely don't need a formal setting to hone their skills. They are students of trends, current events and personal development.

They are looking for ways to understand the problems they see around them and are constantly curious—how does this work, how can I be more efficient, what is this, and how can we make it better?

When you commit to learning something new in your industry every day, you act like what successful people do.

Read

Many billionaires, from Oprah Winfrey to Warren Buffett to Bill Gates, are passionate about reading. Winfrey heads a book club, Buffett spends 80% of his day reading, and Gates reads about 50 books a year.

It also helps them in the habit of learning new things as well as constantly improving their skills, keeping up with what's happening in the industry and learning from others.

They say no, but they don't take no for an answer

To focus on their most important priorities, billionaires say no to things that don't help them achieve their goals. However, they don't easily take no for an answer from their peers, vendors, or employees if they believe something can be done to accelerate success.

Character

Most billionaires have failed. And here we are not talking about some small obstacle, but failures, which would make many people to give up. Not a future billionaire, though.

They see obstacles as simply detours on the way to achieving their goals, but they never give up. They learn their lessons from failure and move on.

Get up early and start early in life

Many billionaires make the most of each day, and that usually means getting up earlier than most people. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey wakes up at 5 a.m. to exercise and meditate, while Richard Branson gets up at 5:45 a.m. to exercise.

Many of them also started earlier in life than most of us, investing, earning compound interest, engaging in entrepreneurship and showing determination to make their dreams come true.

Even if you're older than Mark Zuckerberg, you can still be successful. They simply require action to be taken today.

Do sports

Among billionaires, it's common knowledge that sports help keep the body and mind in tip-top shape. Richard Branson claims that regular physical activity can add four extra hours of productivity to each day. Mark Cuban devotes an hour a day to cardio.

Billionaires aren't just fierce in the boardroom, they also go to great lengths physically. Science backs this up too – exercise not only improves health and reduces stress, but also helps with concentration, increases creativity and makes us better at multitasking.

Take risks

Instead of going with the flow and following the corporate ladder, billionaires aren't afraid to challenge what everyone else is doing, charting their own path, even when they have critics.

They look at things in different ways to provide products or services that others wouldn't dare to.

Established practice

Successful people have established rituals that they follow, whether it's mentally expressing gratitude daily or meditating. They have established practices that do not allow the trifles of everyday life to bother them.

There's a reason why Steve Jobs always wears jeans and a black polo and Mark Zuckerberg wears a gray T-shirt every day. They don't have to waste valuable time shopping or thinking about what to wear.

Surround yourself with successful people

Billionaires believe what Jim Rohn says, “You are the arithmetic average of the five people you spend the most time with.” They network with other influencers and learn from each other.

If you want to increase your success today, then it's time to start behaving like rich people. Choose one or more of these habits and get on the road to success right away.
