Memorable quotes of Omar Khayyam

Omar Khayyam was a Persian mathematician, astronomer and poet who lived in the 11th century AD. As a result of his work, Omar Khayyam created a map of the starry sky, which is now lost. He calculated the length of the year to be 365.24219858156 days, which coincides with great accuracy with the tropical year (365.24218967 days). Based on the calculations of Omar Khayyam, on March 15, 1079, Malik Shah I corrected the Iranian calendar, as in 1582 Pope Gregory XIII did with the European one, based on the calculations of Aloysius Lilius (see Gregorian calendar).

Today, Omar Khayyam is known not so much for his scientific achievements as for his literary works. It is believed that he is the author of about a thousand works.

We show you some of the most memorable ones Omar Khayyam quotes:

Two people were looking in one window.

One saw the rain and mud.

The other - the greenery, spring and the blue sky.

Two people were looking in one window.

Don't cry over your losses

Don't measure today by tomorrow

Do not trust in the past and the coming day

Believe now - and be happy today.

Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.

Do not envy the one who is strong and rich,

after sunrise comes sunset.

Life is short breathe evenly,

treat it as if it were rented to you.

The one who is beaten by life will achieve more.

The eater enjoys a pinch of salt more than honey.

He who sheds tears - he sincerely laughs.

Dying, who is - he knows what it is to be alive!

To be free from belief and unbelief is my religion.

In life, we often make mistakes and lose those we care about.

We try to please strangers, sometimes from our close side.

We glorify those who are worthless to us, we will betray the most faithful.

We offend those who love us and expect an apology ourselves.

I came like water and will leave like wind.

Bread, a jug of wine and you.

The plucked flower must be handed over,

the started verse - to be added,

and the beloved woman - happy,

otherwise it was not worth striving for something that was beyond your power.

Isn't it funny that you can buy anything these days,

and eternal life is still not bought?

This life is given to you, my dear, temporarily –

try not to miss this time.

The value of the three things is justly estimated by all classes of men: the youth, by the old; health, from the sick; and wealth, from the needy.

A man who has a wife can be seduced,

a man who has a mistress can be seduced

but a man who has a beloved woman should not be seduced.

Friend, let us not think of tomorrow, but let us enjoy this fleeting moment of life.
