Andreevden Frbulls

In Northern Bulgaria, on this day they celebrate in honor of the bears, believing that St. Andrew is their master. According to folk legend, the saint defeated the bear, harnessed it to a plow and plowed the land. For this reason, from the cooked stew (most often corn) is thrown into the chimney with the words: "You bear, boiled corn, don't eat the raw and don't eat the people and the cattle!" It is still believed that the bear is the main part from the holiday, and as grandma does, she hangs a picture or something resembling a bear on the nearest wall to the table.

On the night of the 29th to the 30th of November, the bridegrooms make fortunes for their brides, ask fate for the state and sometimes offer to marry them. On the holiday, like most holidays, which make the transition from autumn to winter, women were not supposed to work in the house. The majority say that on the eve of St. Andrew's Day they hear mystical things. And if you wish for something different, it will happen.

There is a belief that if it is quiet on frozen water, then the winter will be nice. If it is noisy, it will be cold and there will be blizzards.

A meal

on the eve of this holiday, different grains - wheat, peas, corn, beans, lentils, etc. - should be boiled in a new pot in order to fatten them up. From this stew in the morning, each member of the household throws a little into the chimney, wishing for "high" (good) crops, and the rest is eaten.
