Exupery's Magnificent Prayer

this little-known prayer was written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry during one of the most difficult periods of his life.

Here is Exupery's Magnificent Prayer:

"Lord, I ask you not for miracles and mirages, but for the power of every day.

He taught me the art of small steps.

It has made me observant and resourceful, so that in the colorfulness of everyday life I can in time dwell on the discoveries and experiences that inspire me.

It taught me to properly allocate time in my life.

Give me a fine sense to distinguish the significant from the unimportant.

I ask you for strength for restraint and measure, so that I do not flutter and crawl through life, but plan my day wisely, be able to see peaks and distant expanses, and sometimes even have time to enjoy art.

Help me to realize that illusions do not help anything. Neither the memories of the past nor the dreams of the future.

Help me to be here and now and perceive this minute as the most important.

It saved me from the naive belief that everything in life should go smoothly.

It gave me a clear awareness that difficulties, defeats, falls and failures are a natural part of life, thanks to which we grow and mature.

Remind me that the heart often argues with the mind.

Send me at the time of need someone who has the power to tell me the truth, but would do it with love. I know that the solution to many problems lies in waiting. So teach me patience. You know how badly we need friendship.

Make me worthy of this wonderful and tender gift of fate.

Give me a rich fantasy, so that I can at the right time, in the right place, silent or speaking, give someone the necessary warmth.

It has made me a man capable of reaching out to those who have hit rock bottom.

Save me from the fear of missing out on something in life.

Give me not what I want, but what I really need.

He taught me the art of small steps.
