The businessman and the fisherman

A businessman stood on a pier in a small fishing village and watched a fisherman, just returned from the inland sea, pull a large fish from his battered boat.

The businessman congratulated the man on the successful catch and asked him:

– How long does it take you to catch such a fish?

"A few hours, no more," answered the fisherman.

- Why didn't you stay longer in the sea to catch a few more such fish? – asked the man.

- Well, this fish is quite enough for today. With it, I will provide everything my family needs to survive tomorrow.

"But it's only noon now." What do you do the rest of the day? – the businessman continued to ask.

– I sleep late, then go out on the boat for a few hours. When I get home, I pay attention to my children, then my wife and I have a siesta, then I go for a walk in the village, in the evening we drink wine and play the guitar with my friends. This is how my days go. I'm just enjoying life... - smilingly explained the fisherman.

"Look, man, I graduated from Harvard University and I know business," said the businessman. – If you want, I can help you and teach you how to do things in a different way. For starters, if you spend all day at sea, you will catch a lot more fish and in a short time you will be able to buy a much bigger and nicer boat.

- And what? - the fisherman was surprised.

- How what? Instead of selling the fish to middlemen, you will be able to deliver it directly to the fish factory. This way you will gradually increase your profit and even one day you will open your own enterprise.

- And then?

"Then you'll be able to ditch this shoddy village, move to the city, and have your own office from which to run your business."

- And how long will all this take? – asked the fisherman.

- About 15-20 years - answered the man.

- And then what?

- Then comes the most pleasant... - laughed the businessman. – You can sell your business for several million and become very rich.

- And what if he became rich?

- Well, you will be able to stop working, move to a small coastal village, sleep until noon, fish a little for pleasure, deal with your children, arrange a siesta, walk in the village and in the evening drinking wine and playing guitar with your friends. In a word, calmly enjoy life.

"I don't understand you," said the fisherman. - Well, I'm doing exactly that now...
