George Bernard Shaw was a prominent British writer, publicist and traveller, known for his sharp language as well as his criticism of Victorian society. He was a serious defender of women's rights. Among his most famous and glamorous works are: "Widows' Houses" (a play published in 1893 from the cycle "Unpleasant Plays"), "Mrs. Warren's Profession" (a drama with prostitution as the main theme), "Candida", "Chosen of fate', 'Man and Superman', 'Major Barbara', 'Androcles' and others. His aphorisms and thoughts are extremely popular. And here is our selection of his thoughts and aphorisms.

  30. Now that we have learned to fly in the air like birds and swim under water like fish, we lack only one thing: to learn to live on earth like men.
